The hardest part of waiting is feeling like nothing is happening.
2024 was a year of waiting. And God is working in the waiting…always! Even when we don't see what He is doing, He is always on the move!
The Lord has been teaching us this in deep and powerful ways this year.
The Bible study we lead each Wednesday morning with the young people in a nearby village is teaching ALL of us so much! We are studying through the Gospel of John and looking closely at how Jesus deals with people and their faith.
At a time when were feeling especially frustrated over more delays upon more delays in moving forward with construction (all things completely beyond our control after having done everything in our power to move things along), John 11 came along. Jesus’ closest friends needed Him. Lazarus was sick and dying. His sisters send for Jesus and as much as he loved each one in this family, He waited. He intentionally did not respond for 2 more days. Two more days may not seem like much but it was a matter of life and death for them. He waited to respond until it was the right time, for Him and for everyone involved. The right time that would accomplish His perfect purpose, eternal purposes. He had a plan for something bigger than they could not see, even in a situation that was clearly urgent!
We have said many times that we feel a strong sense of urgency to see Casa de Gracia built and be able to open our doors and our arms to these young people. But in a year of waiting, the Lord has been reminding us that He knows all of this . He knows their situations. He knows their names. He knows our burdened hearts. He knows our need to make as much construction progress as possible during dry season, etc, etc!!
So what was accomplished in 2024 for Casa de Gracia?
— Hundreds of people made the effort to come, tour and pray!
Every detail of all that is and will be involved in Casa de Gracia was prayed over Powerfully! This encouraged our hearts in such big ways!
— The facade was finished and the Logo installed…and looks AMAZING!
— All permits were granted!!! This was a huge amount of work for our architect and his team. We are still praising God for this big step!
— The septic system was built & delivered to the property…no small job!
— Excavation began! We never imagined we could be so excited to see dirt being moved around! But believe me, it’s a beautiful site to behold!
— Financial Provision! God blew us away with the generosity of donors that began making monthly contributions, big donations, matching grant donations and every single donation that came in towards that! It all added up to be exactly what we need to complete ALL of the infrastructure work, excavation of the entire property and build the first transition home 🙌 So here we go with a lot of movement coming soon!
— Powerful Prayers! Looping back to this because it was such a huge part of 2024! From our prayer and advisory team that meets via Zoom every month to every board member to every visitor…hundreds of powerful prayers have covered this endeavor!! And we know there will be incredible fruit from all of this that we cannot even begin to imagine 🙌
God is good and He is working all things together for our good and His glory!!!
We walk into 2025 with lots of joy and anticipation as we trust His good and perfect plans for Casa de Gracia and the hearts of our entire team!
Happy New Year again and may we all have eyes to God our great and mighty God at work all around us…in the activity and in the quiet!
